  • As acupuncture attempts to stimulate the person’s own recovery systems it is in fact suitable for anyone seeking to improve their health or to help prevent any future degeneration.

An Initial Consultation can take up to an hour and a half, and would involve discussion of the presenting complaints and medical history. This is followed by some traditional Chinese diagnostic checks such as looking for changes in skin colour and temperature, tenderness at back and abdominal points, and examination of the tongue and pulse.

Acupuncture is a holistic treatment designed to stimulate your body and mind to function more efficiently and harmoniously. It is suitable for any age and almost any condition, and can be used alongside other medication or therapies. It can also be used as a means of boosting the immune system and preventing illness, and to bring a greater sense of energy and well being to your life.

Please book a free 15 minute initial consultation if you are unsure and would like to know whether acupuncture would help you.

    Shonishin

Is the name given to Japanese paediatric acupuncture, which is a mainly non-invasive form of treatment first developed in the 17th century. Primarily massage based, the basic routine can be easily learned and applied at home. Though gentle, it is highly effective for a wide range of childhood problems such as colic, indigestion, weak constitution, bedwetting, night terror, asthma etc.

Following an initial consultation, sessions last 15 to 30 minutes, with a basic treatment consisting of light massage along the acupuncture channels, with application of small press spheres at specific acupuncture points and if necessary (usually with older children) use of paediatric needles.
