Niacin
We have all seen the ads that Niacin is in our cereals and bread and the likes as this essential B vitamin is easily available through our diet. But what does it do? Well, it helps control our blood sugar levels and helps the body release energy from carbohydrates. It is responsible for helping our skin stay healthy and makes sure our nervous and digestive systems work properly. The body can actually manufacture Niacin itself from the amino acid tryptophan but your body needs to have enough B1, B2 and B6 to enable it to do this (another reason we take a complex I think). The Niacinamide is a better option as some supplements can cause the body to flush – and this one doesn’t. The best sources of B3 are liver, kidney, meat, whole wheat products, fish, eggs, poultry white meat, dates, figs and prunes. If you have a cholesterol problem, increasing your niacin intake can help.(published with permission in writing from:http://www.greenwitch.co.uk/)
