Stop smoking: how to go about it

People who want to
stop smoking are usually recommended to do this together with somebody else. If your motivation is down, your partner is there to pick you up and the other way around. Another way of looking at this partnership is to make it a competition. What your partner can do, you can do as well. However, choosing the way to go about quitting is an individual process. You have to decide for yourself when and
how to quit. There are more ways than one to do it. It’s just a matter of choosing the one that feels right for you.
Cold turkey
Going cold turkey is the most frequent used method to stop smoking. You just stop without any kind of help. Some side effects may be more extreme in the first few days. Luckily they will fade away within the first two or three weeks.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves needles being inserted into key pressure points on different parts of the body. After half an hour all of the needles are removed but two tiny ones in the ear. The idea is then to touch an ear lobe whenever a craving comes on. Effectiveness hasn’t been proven but some smokers have found it valuable.
