Allen Carr: Quick, easy and fun way to stop smoking
Allan Carr was a chain smoker for 30 years. Despite several attempts he didn’t succeed to fully
stop smoking. Until the last time when he tried to find out exactly why he was smoking. This became the foundation of his method that has is been applied is several countries around the world for many years now.
The Carr method
Allen Car developed a quick, easy and fun way to quit smoking. The training consists of one meeting of 5 to 6 hours in a small group of about 8 people. It’s not about telling people that smoking isn’t healthy. The goal of this session is to give them an understanding of their
smoking behaviour. They will recognise and understand their conflicting emotions of wanting to stop smoking on the one hand and on the other hand wanting to keep on smoking. Because of this insight the cigarette loses its magical power. This way quitting smoking becomes something that goes without saying instead of a constant struggle.
Side effects
Side effects are hardly an issue. That’s also why they won’t need any aids like
nicotine preparations, pills or other treatments. Another advantage is that these people are less likely to gain weight than they would be when using another method.
Training
The training consists of one session of about
5 to 6 hours. During this session it is explained to them how the
addiction mechanism works. This way they’ll understand their smoking behaviour. During the whole of the session it is still allowed to smoke. Once the last cigarette has been smoked, the session is concluded with a nice relaxation exercise. Most smokers won’t need extra sessions. For those who do there are shorter follow up session. In addition to this there is also telephonic coaching.
Cost
The training costs € 250. All Carr trainers use a
refund guarantee. This means that if the smokers haven’t succeeded to stop smoking within three months after the first session, they are fully refunded. The only condition is that they have to have gone to at least two follow up sessions. These last about two hours and can be attended until a year after the first session.
