Whilst the resulting fashionable status given to such diets means that they have saturated the media, research suggests that this style of dieting can in fact have adverse effects on your health with initial findings revealing that these diets could even lead to heart disease, cancer or ironically obesity.

The two main problems with a low carb diet are: Firstly, you are eating lots of fats which can enhance the risk of heart disease and secondly, further health risks will arise from the considerable change in your metabolism brought about by the absence of carbohydrates in your system.
