Female hair loss

Female hair lossHair is an essential part of our body and plays a significant role in our life. It’s something we spend time on every day and one of the first things we notice when we meet somebody else. That’s why hair loss not only causes cosmetic concerns but may also cause feelings of vulnerability. Especially women who otherwise have luxuriant hair are affected badly. But this of course doesn’t make it any less bad for any one else having to deal with it.

The most common type of hair loss is genetically and hormonally determined. It’s the largest single type of recognizable alopecia that affects both men and women. This type is also known as common baldness or diffuse hair loss. Women who suffer from common baldness might show a general thinning of hair all over their head or a moderate loss of hair on the crown or at the hairline. Usually it starts with the hair at the temples. They may also find their hair has become finer and doesn’t grow as long as it used to. Over time they are left with a horse-shoe pattern or hair around the sides of your head. This female diffuse hair loss tends to begin about the age of 30 and become more noticeable around 40. After the menopause it might be even more visible. Women may have receding hair lines though usually female hair loss involves an overall thinning.
