Why do some people become binge eaters?
There doesn't seem to be one single factor that makes certain people become binge eaters, although dieting seems to play an important direct role in the cause of binge eating.Certain personality types - givers, helpers, people pleasers, worries, avoider's. Jobs which demand weight control or place people near food, people with glucose intolerance, food intolerance's, obesity or perceived obesity of specific body parts, pressure from significant others to look thinner, dissatisfaction and lack of fulfilment.
Traumatic events and experiences during childhood such as death, separation, parental disharmony, physical illnesses, teasing, and bullying all seem to occur with disturbing frequency in binge eaters
Also many have problems with assertiveness, low self esteem coupled with poor body image and are often perfectionists.
