Talking to teenagers

Becoming a
teenager is a roller coaster ride. There are so many things to deal with. Below are some tips to help them and us keep sane whilst they are rediscovering themselves as adults.
Teenagers need space
We want to help them and to know what is wrong, but sometimes letting them cool off, then building bridges works wonders. Softly softly.
Teenagers are not children
They are also not fully adult. We can help by
talking calmly, asking their opinions and not laying down the law in a heavy handed way (though still being firm).
Build self confidence
A high level of
self esteem will equip your teen with the confidence to say no, stand up for what they believe and question un justices in the world.
Be prepared to compromise
If they want to listen to loud music, let them at a time it won't affect others (whilst you are in the kitchen, not trying to watch tv!) If you want them to help with the housework give them a washing basket outside their room and agree not to pick up anything from the floor. If they have no clothes or lose their homework it is then their
responsibility.
